The Leicester Square Theatre in Leicester Place, London should not be confused with the former Leicester Square Theatre in Leicester Square, which is currently called the Odeon West End.

This new Leicester Square Theatre which is situated beside the Prince Charles Cinema, formerly the Prince Charles Theatre, and beneath the Notre Dame French Catholic Church, was originally called the Notre Dame Hall, which was a cultural hall for the French in London.

In the 1970s the building found a new use as a dance hall and music venue, especially famous during the punk era.

In 2001 the building was converted into a Theatre and named 'The Venue' and had a number of successes over the years but became especially well known in 2002 when Boy George's 'Taboo' was produced in the Theatre.

In August 2008 the Theatre was renamed the Leicester Square Theatre and now has two auditoriums, a main 400 seat space with two bars, and a smaller basement venue with 90 seats.
