The Gordon Craig Theatre forms part of the Stevenage Arts & Leisure centre and was built in 1975. The Theatre was named after the Stevenage born actor and director Edward Gordon Craig who was also the son of the well known actress Ellen Terry. The Theatre has an auditorium capable of seating slightly over 500 people and caters to a wide range of tastes with productions of Opera, Dance, Orchestral Concerts, plays, and variety shows with comedy and music.

The building also has another auditorium which is much large and this 'Main Hall', which can accommodate some 1,200 people, stages a variety of musical concerts and comedy, and is home to an annual pantomime at Christmas.
